Hi there,
A lot of people in their 20s and 30s think they’re behind financially.
They feel overwhelmed. Stressed. Like everyone else has somehow figured it out. But honestly, most people don’t need a complicated strategy. They just need a few solid financial habits.
If you’re struggling financially right now, here are the three things I’d focus on immediately:
1. Eliminate credit card debt
This comes first. Because if you’re carrying a balance every month, you’re likely paying interest rates close to 25–30%. That’s incredibly hard to overcome.
You will never consistently out-invest bad debt. So before worrying about fancy investments or trying to “get rich quick,” focus on stopping the financial leak first.
2. Start investing habitually
Not someday. Not when you make more money. Now.
Open a brokerage account through Fidelity, Vanguard, or Schwab.
And start small if you need to. $10 a week. $20 a week. $50 a month.
The amount matters less than building the habit. And for beginners, keep it simple.
Index funds like the S&P 500 allow you to invest in hundreds of the biggest companies at once. No stock picking. No guessing. Just consistency. That’s how real wealth is built.
3. Fix your spending mindset
A lot of people spend everything they earn and wonder why they never get ahead.
Start tracking your expenses honestly. Go through the last few months and look at where your money is actually going.
Then try to follow a simple rule:
Live on 80% of your income. Use the other 20% to pay off debt, save, and invest.
That one shift can completely change your future over time.
The truth is, becoming financially stable usually isn’t about one massive breakthrough.
It’s small habits repeated consistently for years. That’s how ordinary people quietly become millionaires.
If you want a more detailed breakdown on saving, investing, and building your first six figures, I put everything together step-by-step in my guide to making and multiplying your first $100K. It’s the exact framework I wish I had earlier.
