đź’°Nobody Cares About You
Oct 01, 2025read time 2 minutes
Hi there,
If there’s one lesson I’ve learned over the years, it’s this: no one cares about you as much as you think.
Most people spend so much time thinking about their appearance, status, and reputation. They spend thousands, if not millions of dollars, on things that will make them look cooler or richer. But the truth of the matter is that everyone is so busy, caught up in their own lives, that they aren’t looking as closely at yours as you think.
Why does this matter? Understanding this simple reality will save you so much time, energy, and money that you should be investing in building your life instead of wasting it on the opinions of others.
The next time you want to buy something, ask yourself this: Would you buy it if you couldn’t tell anyone about it? This will help you determine if you're doing it for status or if you're doing it because of the value it brings to your life.
Of course, both of those things can be true at the same time. But status should not be a priority when you're making a material purchase.
This straightforward question will help you understand how often you just live for others and not for yourself. Because if you're buying it for status, you're doing it for validation. And the reality is, if you're buying things to impress other people, you are just setting yourself back financially.
Here’s how I make my decisions: I recently bought a designer belt. I'm pretty sure I overpaid because it was Hermes, but I bought it because I liked the quality of it and how it makes me feel: like I’m investing in myself. I bought it because I like to take care of myself, but it's for me and not for others.
That's the mindset to be in. Do it for your own internal validation rather than for extrinsic validation. No one cares that you bought something expensive. But if it makes you feel good, if it contributes towards your long-term plans and overall financial well-being, make the purchase.
