đź’°My Money May Be More Powerful Than My Vote

Hi there,

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how chaotic everything feels - the news, the economy, the climate. Some days it’s hard not to feel like the world’s just spinning out of control. But then I caught myself. Because while I can’t fix politics or the planet overnight, I can control one powerful thing: where my money goes.

Every dollar you spend or invest tells the world what you care about. It’s like voting, only louder.

We’ve already seen how this plays out. Companies that go against people’s values take a hit. Remember what happened to Target when they cut their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in January? Billions lost, just from people making small, intentional choices about where they spend and invest. And more recently, Ben & Jerry’s has garnered significant public support for their long-standing political stance, which has always been an integral part of their identity.

That’s when it clicked for me: I don’t have to choose between doing good and building wealth. I can do both.

That’s what socially responsible investing, or ESG investing, is all about. It means putting your money into companies that prioritize things like clean energy, fair wages, and honest leadership. Funds like ESGD, ESGE, or SUSA make it easy by bundling dozens of high-performing, ethical companies together.

And the myth that doing good hurts your returns? Totally false. ESG funds actually beat traditional ones this year, with median returns of 12.5% compared to 9.2%. Turns out, good values can make good business too.

So these days, when I invest, I feel confident. Not just because my money’s growing, but because it’s helping build the kind of world I want to live in.
