💰If I turned 18 again, I'd do these 5 things

Hi there,
I sometimes think about what I'd do if I could go back and turn 18 all over again. Knowing what I know now, I'd skip a lot of the trial and error.
I became a self-made millionaire by 25, but it wasn't because I had rich parents or some secret advantage. In fact, my parents knew very little about personal finance. We figured it out as we went.
If I had to start from scratch today, these are the five things I'd do immediately:
1. Set up the right financial accounts.
I'd open four accounts:
- A checking account for bills and everyday spending.
- A high-yield savings account to build a 3–6 month emergency fund.
- A brokerage account for long-term investing.
- A Roth IRA if eligible, to take advantage of tax-free growth.
Each account has a different job. Once you give your money a purpose, it's much easier to build wealth.
2. Automate my investments.
I wouldn't try to time the market.
I'd invest consistently into low-cost ETFs and index funds and automate every contribution. Whether it's $20 a week or $200 a month, consistency beats waiting for the "perfect" time to invest.
3. Track every dollar.
You can't improve what you don't measure.
I'd know exactly how much I earn, how much I spend, and how much I save every month.
Most people don't have an income problem. They have a spending problem they haven't noticed yet.
4. Build credit the right way.
I'd get a credit card, use it for normal everyday purchases like groceries or gas, and pay the balance off in full every month.
Done responsibly, it's one of the easiest ways to build strong credit while avoiding expensive interest charges.
5. Invest in myself.
I'd spend as much time learning high-income skills as I do managing my money.
Sales. Marketing. AI. Content creation. Communication.
The more valuable your skills become, the more opportunities you'll create for yourself.
And one thing I'd never overlook again? My health.
Joining a gym was one of the best investments I ever made. Not because it directly made me money, but because it gave me more confidence, more energy, and the discipline to follow through on my goals. Those habits spilled over into every area of my life.
Looking back, none of these decisions were flashy.
But together, they completely changed my future.
If you're 18. Or even 28 or 38, it's not too late to build these foundations.
Your future wealth won't be determined by one big decision.
It will be built by small, smart choices you repeat for years.
Start with one today. Your future self will thank you.
