💰Have this conversation before getting married

Hi there,

One of the most uncomfortable conversations couples avoid has nothing to do with love. It's money.

Mention the word "prenup," and many people immediately think it means someone is planning for divorce. I don't see it that way.

A prenuptial agreement is simply a legal document that allows two people to decide how certain financial matters (like assets, debts, and property) would be handled if specific life events occur. Without one, those decisions are generally made according to the laws where you live.

That doesn't mean every couple needs a prenup. But every couple should understand what the default rules are before getting married.

Marriage isn't just an emotional commitment. It's also a financial partnership.

Having honest conversations about savings, debt, investments, property, and long-term goals can prevent misunderstandings years down the road.

For some couples, a prenup makes sense. For others, it doesn't.

The important part is making an informed decision together instead of avoiding the topic altogether.

I've learned that one of the healthiest things you can do before getting married is to be completely transparent about money.

Talk about your debts. Talk about your assets.

Talk about how you'll manage finances as a team.

Those conversations may feel awkward today, but they can save a lot of stress in the future. After all, the strongest relationships aren't built by avoiding difficult conversations. They're built by having them.
