Hi Aanisha,
What does it take to build a habit?
Here’s a secret: It’s not forcing yourself to do things you don’t want to. It’s not about following trends. It’s about building consistency in a way that suits your lifestyle.
And what happens after building a habit? You get sustainable results.
Do one thing repetitively, and you can achieve any goal you set your mind to.
Want to lose 10 pounds? Start your own business? Become a millionaire? It’s all possible by changing and building a habit.
So here are some perspectives you need to build a habit successfully:
#1 Invest for the Long Term
Over the years, I’ve realized this: if I’m investing my time and energy into something, it has to be something I can do consistently in the long term. In life, we sometimes get so excited about our goals that we don’t stop to think how achievable they are. But here’s the reality of it: regardless of your goals, results take time. If you’re building something, there’s no point in taking shortcuts. When setting a goal and working towards it, think about how you can maintain it for the next five years.
#2 Start Small, Start Where You Are
You can’t start with big leaps. You don’t have to wait until you have $1,000 to start investing. You don’t have to go for a 10km run on your first time out. Start with 20 minutes in the gym instead of an hour. Save $10 instead of $100. Do this every day, and you will automatically build a habit that gets better and more consistent with time.
#3 Make Things Easier for Yourself
If you’re not a morning person, work out in the evenings instead. If you forget to save, automate deposits to your High Yield Savings Account every month (and pick from our favorites here). Building success through a habit doesn’t have to be difficult. It just has to be done. Do it in the easiest possible way for you.
With these in mind, you can build any habit and conquer any goal. It’s your time to shine!
